Last week was very exciting for me. As most of you might have noticed, one of my article was published on Bastion & Co about Winter Trend 2014. Whenever you get chance, check out this article if you have not already. In a nutshell, winters are not supposed to be cold  and intolerable. It can bring new dimension to styling and layering. After all, as much as we don’t like winter, we love fashion and styling more! On that note, I want to talk a bit about styling and layering here.

Winter is all about layering (for obvious reasons!) and literally layering is the only thing out there to keep us warm and still look fashionable. Though it should not look like you have just piled up on clothes!  And surely don’t make it look too bulky either. There are no rules for layering as such, but just pay attention to the layers. Get a hold on the texture of the sweaters and make sure that it fits you well. As plaids have been extremely popular pattern, I have decided to have a full week on plaid, and specially shirts – best way to layer up. Even plaid scarfs, tee’s and even skirts are very trendy this season, check my previous post on Plaid To School featuring a plaid skirt. In this outfit you will see me wearing a plaid shirt layered up with chunky sweater. One can use a jacket instead for layering. The choice is entirely yours. The reason I used plaid shirt was two fold. Firstly, the texture of this particular plaid was a think fabric  and the colors were especially appealing. Secondly since I had jeans on, I wanted to keep everything easy and plaids do bring a sense of casual calm to an outfit.

Usually you can go lighter on the accessories when you layer but I have decided to pair up this statement necklace with the outfit. Few more days and scarfs are going to be the staple accessory in my closet 🙂
